Branding for the magazine Ski Revolution

CASE STUDY

Ski Revolution is a sports magazine with a special focus on photography and alternative ski culture in Spain.
For this branding we created a concept based on the simple, universal image of the double trace lines created by the skies that you can see in this example.

With this visual concept in mind, the logo is a simple and strong solution using the Helvetica font, and with a particular colour code, far from all the usual sports visual trends. The brown neutral wooden colour and the bright magenta contrast and produce a design more related to snow wear.

This was another visual solution for the brief that was not used in the end.

Below are some of the magazines highlighting the branding. Even when the corporate colours are brown and magenta, we used a variation of the secondary colour (the original magenta) for each issue. Here you can see the use of yellow and cyan as an example.

The editorial design of the magazines was primary focused on the images - big photos, small but very well crafted and smart texts - trying to marry the visual experience of skiing with a clean concept and very organised information and contents, instead of the chaotic trendy design in most of the sports magazines in the market at the time.

I was in charge of the first eight issues of the magazine and there was a continual improvement from issue to issue with great acceptance from the readers creating a very strong fan base around Europe.

This is the # 8, the last one of the series of 8 magazines designed by me in 2 years.
